My ratings are unabashedly high (so what else is new?), because this song means so much to me and to my choir, The Boeing Employees Choir.

We were asked to write a song for a young cancer patient at Seattle Childrens Hospital. The song was to be about his life before he became ill, and a song he would enjoy listening to over and over. The music therapy staff at the hospital provided a profile to the non-profit group, Songs of Love, and they called me.

A mother-daughter team of lyricists from our choir wrote nine verses, and eight of them were incorporated into the semi-rock song we recorded for Seth. The last verse was very different from the others and seemed to be more of a prayer. Late one night, I felt compelled to set them to music as this prayer for healing.

The day of our recording, we heard that a very dear member of the choir had been diagnosed with cancer again, after about five years of freedom from the disease which she has been battling for about 18 years. To honor our friend and to express our concern, we put her name in the song and recorded it again.

John Beltzer, President of the non-profit group, Songs of Love, has given me permission to publish this prayer, so that other choirs can join in song for those who are in need of healing. I'm very pleased that 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this song will be donated to Songs of Love to help them continue to provide free, personalized, songs to seriously ill children all across the country.

Speaking as the founder of Songs of Love, and one who has written over 150 songs for sick children and young adults across the country, I'm very moved by this wonderful composition. The melody floats and seems to weave its way around and through the body and soul of the listener. The healing aspect of Healing Prayer is quite evident. It takes us outside of the circle of circumstance and delivers us to a place filled with the light of peace. . .to a place where all is still and beautiful. . .to an indestructible place that's in all of us.
